Probiotics can decrease diarrhea in children
New research shows that probiotics can help treat diarrhea in children. A type of "friendly bacteria" naturally present in the digestive tract, probiotics are available in the form of a supplement. Proponents suggest that Probiotic supplements can help boost immunity and improve the health of the intestine.
A recent study involved 60 children aged 1 to 23 months, who were hospitalized for diarrhea aiguë.chercheurs randomly children in one of three treatments: oral rehydration therapy more Saccharomyces boulardii (a type of probiotics), hydration oral therapy over a probiotic compound (containing four types of beneficial bacteria) or oral rehydration therapy over placebo.
Results by examining 64 children who have completed their treatment, authors of the study determined that two approaches probiotic shorten the duration of the diarrhée.La probiotics species has proved more effective as a treatment for diarrhea and also reduces the duration of fever.
In previously published studies, the scientists found that probiotics can also help in the treatment of ulcerative colitis and relieve gastrointestinal disorders related to the use of antibiotics.
