(Citrus aurantifolia [Christm.& Panz.] Swingle)
This kind of lime (also called acid lime or sour lime) is not to be consumed raw because of its extreme sour bitter taste. Sour lime has been used for many purposes, such as a cleaning agent (it removes fat in dishes and stain in metal utensils), fresh beverage, as spices in many cooking recipes, and not least as an alternative medicine.
As an altenative medicine, lime is good to cure cough, remove phlegm or mucus (mucolitic) or simply to make our body fresh as it clears blockage in our vital energy channel. Lime can also function as dieuretics and helps digestion.
More specifically, lime (the fruit) can be used to cure the followings health disorders:
1. Influenza and cough
Get one ripe lime fruit. Half and squeeze it to get the extract. Add some 60cc hot boiled water. Then add ½ teaspoon of quicklime (Ind. kapur sirih) and mix them well. Drink it twice daily, two tablespoons each.
Tips: to get more extract out of a lime, before you half the fruit, squeeze the fruit against the table with our palm, until the fruit becomes soft. This way. More juice can extracted.
2. Cough (not followed by influenza)
Extract one lime fruit into a glass. Add approximately the same amount of honey or black soya sauce into the lime juice. Drink it twice daily until the cough stops.
3. Stomachache, Menstruation Disorder, Diarrhea
Get about 5 tablespoon of lime extract, 2 tablespoon of cajuput oil, and a small amount of quicklime (about the size of a peanut). Mix them well, and rub it on the neck (cough), chest and belly (stomachache, diarrhea), lower belly and waist (menstruation disorder/pain on menstruation). Do this 2 – 3 times daily.
4. Headache/ Dizziness
Pick about half a handful of lime leaves, rinse them well, then crush thoroughly. Add on 1 tablespoon of lime juice and mix well. Rub this mixture on the nape of the neck, forehead, and temples, 2 – 3 times daily.
5. Sore throat
Get three ripe lime fruits and get the extract. Add on ½ glass of hot water and 1 tablespoon of honey. Mix them well and, while it is warm, gargle with it for 2-3 minutes. Do it three times a day
6. Excessive phlegm
Add a small amount of salt into a glass of lime juice. Drink before meal, 2 – 3 time a day.
7. Infant or Child’s Fever
Get the extract of a lime in a small bowl. Add into it 3 pieces of crushed shallot, a small quantity of salt and 1 tablespoon of coconut oil. Mix well, and spread on the child’s upper head
8. Fever in Malaria
Get 3 pieces each of lime leaves, Kendal leaves (Cordia obliqua Will.), Sembung leaves (Blumea balsamifera) and 5 pieces of Prasman leaves (Eupatorium triplinerve Vahl.). Boil all the leaves with 3 glasses of clean water. Keep boiling until the water reduces to one glass only. When it gets cool, strain it and drink, half a glass at a time (in the morning and in the evening).
9. Menstruation Disorder
Mix well 2 tablespoon of lime extract, 3 tablespoon of (pure) honey and 1½ glass of warm boiled water. Divide the mixture into 3 parts and drink one part a day.
10. Dandruff
Slice a lime fruit into 2-3 pieces. Rub the lime onto the scalp thoroughly. Let the wet scalp dry, then rinse it well with clean warm water.

BROCCOLI
(Brassica oleracea var. italica)
Consume Broccoli to Prevent Cancer.
Everyone knows broccoli. Although children sometimes hate to eat it, broccoli’s chemical contents are good for human body. Broccoli is actually flower in its earlier stage. It is usually harvested before the real yellowish flowers come to bloom. Broccoli shares similar characteristics with cauliflower, only the latter is whitish in colour whereas the former is dark green.
Broccoli contains of water, protein, fat, carbohydrate, fiber, calcium, iron, Vitamins (A, C, E, thiamin, riboflavin, nicotinaminade, beta carotene, and glutation. Broccoli also contains cianohydroxybutene (CHB), sulphophrane and iberin, which stimulates human body to form glutation. Sulphophrane is a substance that can prevent cancer from occurring.
Main indications
- Preventing cancer
- Accelerate the curing (healing) process after a serious illness
Serving Suggestion:
To accelareate curing process, slice a medium size broccoli into smaller pieces, rinse with clean water, and cook in boling water (too long cooking would damage the chemical contents). Consume the medium-cooked broccoli with salt or pepper as you like, or cook it with your favorite recipes.
